This is Gloria :) she has been married to her husband for 55yrs. Gloria actually used to be a ballerina and began studying ballet in 1930. She said that she learned when a retired ballet dancer set up a studio to teach it because she had nothing else to do. Gloria is rather tall being 5’8 and I noticed her husband was tall as well. She told me that she first met him at State Beach on a warm sunday afternoon and it was love at first sight! She was excited that he was handsome and tall! In high school Gloria said that she was always taller than most of the other guys so she was glad he was taller. That day they went to dinner at Earl Carol’s in Hollywood and got married a few months later, she was 21 and he was 27. I mentioned how beautiful her wedding dress was and she said her mother made it and lace from her mothers wedding dress was used for the collar. She said her parents really liked him. Her husband Robert was in WWII and was stationed in Europe in the 3rd armored division. Gloria grew up in Los Angeles and had a step sister. Her and Robert never had any children

This is Ray and Terry Schaaf. They have been married since 1958 making it 52 years! They don’t live together, Ray actually lives at Woods and Terry lives at South woods. South Woods is for people who have severe Dementia or Alzheimers and Woods is a place for people who need assistance living. South Woods is also kind of hidden and isolated the only way in is through a dining room at Woods where you will encounter a locked door than can only be opened with a code. Such measures are taken because the residents their may wander off or try to leave the premise as many are often confused and that would be very dangerous. Ray is the man who always dances to the twist when we exercise and has a dog named Howie that lives with him. Today me and Carolina brought some people from South Woods over to Woods for chapel service and Terry was one of them. She stayed for exercises and when Howiesaw her he immediately jumped on her lap and began licking her all over her face! :)

Today is Pat Edingers 90th birthday!! Her family came and brought punch and cake and took a lot of pictures :) seeing pat, i would have never guessed she was turning 90. She is really active, has no trouble hearing or seeing, and can walk perfectly fine. We can only hope to be half as fit as she is at that age! Happy birthday Pat and many more to come :)

Today we celebrated the fourth of july with all the residents :) We had them make mini parade floats and all the supplies were prepared by us the day before. They all loved it! Wanda’s daughter and grandchildren came to help and it was a very successful morning thanks to all their help :)
